2. The students will write and use functions that model actual exponential scenarios.
3. The students will use Excel to generate and graph population predictions.

Getting to Work

Part One - Picking Your Country and Determining its Population

Familiarize yourself with the data about your country in the table at Population Growth Rates.

Part Two - Graphing the Population Data in Excel

The following is a "prefabbed" Excel Chart. The graph will automatically create itself when you enter the data.

1. For the document below, right-click on the icon and do a “Save as” to take possession of the document. Store it onto a jump drive, your h-drive or your home computer. When you save it, add your last name onto the end of the existing document name.
2. Open the document. Enter the name of the country you are studying in the appropriate cell.
3. Also copy the link to your starting data in to the appropriate box.
4. Refer to the column headers to see what data should be graphed.
5. Above the graph, enter the appropriate multipliers that you are using based on your country with regard to the UN report and the CIA Handbook.
6. Generate data for a 30 year span from your initial starting point. (You might want to refer to the EXCEL Tips video on the wiki.)
7. Email you your excel file to Mr. Vizza at vizzata@npenn.org.
